The oldest roller coasters made of wooden sleds ave originated from Russian winter sleds rides, date back to 17th century. The most modern roller coasters are made of steel but wooden roller coasters are still being produced. Notable roller coasters like Formula Rossa, Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, Dodonpa and Superman : Escape from Krypton exceeds blazing speeds of 100 miles per hour. Intimidator 305 is the tallest and fastest roller coaster on East Coast of United States located at Kings Dominion theme park in Virginia. Intimidator 305 standing at height of 305 feet, taller than that of Eiffel tower replica near the park. The first drop of Intimidator measures 300 feet and have maximum descent angle of 85 degree. It is one of the fastest roller coasters in the world at speed of 90 miles per hour. It was opened on 2nd April, 2010 and in the same year amusement today voted Intimidator 305 as ‘Best new roller coaster of 2010′.
This roller coaster was named after late NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt whose nick name on track was Intimidator. The track and passenger cars of Intimidator 305 also follows NASCAR theme. Total ride time of Intimidator 305 is 3 minutes, will pass four hills and eight turns in total.
